Comments
The Spanish War of Independence was a military conflict that occurred between 1808 and 1814 within the context of the Napoleonic Wars, which pitted the allied powers of Spain, the United Kingdom and Portugal against Napoleon Bonaparte, whose intention was, after the abdications of Bayona, that of installing his brother, Joseph Bonaparte, on the Spanish throne and establishing Spain as a satellite State of the First French Empire.
