Comments
The ship San Hermenegildo was a Spanish fleet line vessel, built at La Habana (Havana) shipyard, that at that time still was a Spanish colony. Was a "Santa Ana" class, with 3 decks, 3 masts with square sails, and 112 cannons.
Santa Ana class was a project from which were constructed a series of 8 ships, 3 at Ferrol, Spain and 5 at Havana:
Santa Ana (Saint Anne), Ferrol, 1784, which gave name to the series;
Mejicano (Mexican) and Conde de Regia (Count of Regia), Havana, both 1786;
Salvador del Mundo (savior of the World), Ferrol, and Real Carlos (Royal Charles), Havana, both 1787;
San Hermenegildo (Saint Hermenegildo), Havana, 1789;
Reina Luisa (Queen Louise), Ferrol, 1791;
and Príncipe de Asturias (Prince of Asturias), Havana, 1794.
