Despite being produced in their thousands and being available at face value from most post offices and banks, the ordinary business strike was a Royal Mint commemorative issue and not intended for general circulation.
This design was also issued in the 2007 annual proof set as well as in Brilliant Uncirculated individual packs, while also struck in silver proof, silver piedfort proof, gold proof and platinum piedfort proof.
